Headteacher’s Blog

10 September 2020

As mentioned last week you should now have received a suite of films welcoming you (as well as the children) back into the ‘live’ Edinburgh Academy community.

As Mrs Htet-Khin has written on Firefly, if there are any general questions you may have after watching them please do submit these and she will put together a list of frequently asked questions.

I am also aware that whilst both the Rector and I have mentioned holidays in previous correspondence I would again highlight that the Nursery and Junior School (as well as the Senior School) will have a two-week half term break having started the term earlier than originally envisaged. There is also a staff training day on Monday 26 October so the school will be closed to pupils from the end of the school day on Friday 9 October until the normal start times on Tuesday 27 October.

Prior to the holiday we are due to have individual pupil photos taken by Tempest Photography on 6 October. This will go ahead but unfortunately they have said they will not be able to take family group shots on this occasion. If it is possible we will try to do this later in the year.

And finally, it is nice to think that the children are taking a step back towards ‘normality’ by wearing full school uniform. I have had contact from one or two parents who have not yet bought the school blazer for this year. Given that it is only 4 weeks until the Junior School moves over to the winter uniform I am not going to lose any sleep if those children without blazers continue to wear their winter coats or cagoules between now and then.

Kind regards
