EA Bicentennial
With the laying of the Foundation stone on 30 June 1823, the Academy entered the beginning of the build, vision and construction phase. Following 15 months of intense lobbying, building, financial support and recruitment The Edinburgh Academy officially welcomed its first pupils on 1st October 1824.
Like all institutions of this age, it’s lived through many turmoils and we are honoured to recognise these, and celebrate the achievement of the bicentennial up until the completion of the 200th class of leavers on 27 June 2025.
