Ephor – Mentoring and Pastoral

As part of both the Mentoring and Pastoral Ephor teams, my goals this year are to help create an inclusive, welcoming environment for everyone at The Edinburgh Academy. Within the mentoring team, I want younger pupils to feel supported and confident that there’s always someone they can turn to for help or advice. Through my pastoral role, I hope to strengthen relationships across year groups and make sure the Ephor team is approachable and open—a group that anyone feels comfortable speaking to.

I joined The Edinburgh Academy in Geits (P7) and have loved the sense of community that comes with being part of a smaller school. Because everyone knows each other, you quickly feel connected—not just within your own year, but across the whole school. It’s something that makes EA feel truly special.

My favourite subjects are Geography and Design Technology. I love Geography because it helps me understand how the world works and the impact humans have on it. DT, on the other hand, lets me be creative and hands-on—I really enjoy the practical side of building and designing projects in the workshop. Looking ahead, I plan to study Geography at university, as it combines my curiosity about the planet with my interest in problem-solving and global issues.

If I could give one piece of advice to anyone joining the Senior School, it would be to get involved in everything you can. The Academy offers so many opportunities in every area, and trying new things is the best way to find what you enjoy most. I’d especially recommend taking part in the school play at least once—it’s an unforgettable experience that truly brings the school community together.
