17 September 2020

At the end of last week and again yesterday we were involved in filming for our Virtual Open Day at the end of the month (Friday 25 September). Obviously, we would much rather be able to show off the school as a living entity but needs must in these strange times. Whilst numbers remain buoyant (we are currently full to all intents and purposes) we are always looking to the future. I would be grateful if you could pass word around any friends who might be interested that the Admissions process for session 2021–22 is in full swing.

The next significant Admissions event after Open Day will take place on Saturday 28 November when we will be hosting an Assessment Day for prospective P2–6 entrants. In looking to minimise risk, this is being done when the school is closed over a weekend but the Leadership Team, Admissions Team and I will be on hand to offer a very warm welcome. Again, if you know of anyone who may be interested please encourage them to contact our Admissions Department.

Details of our P1 assessments in January will come out in the near future.

And finally, as I have mentioned previously, it has been lovely to see the children walking, scooting and cycling onto the school grounds since the start of term. Arboretum Road has also seemed much calmer without the vehicular bottle neck outside the school. I have certainly been enjoying my own daily bike commutes as much as ever. This said, I would be grateful if parents could be very aware of the children and families who are cycling into school on the road. There have been some recent incidents of cars overtaking cyclists then immediately stopping to reverse into spaces. I will write more on the subject of the road next week as I believe we are due to see some disruption due to gas pipe works around the school in the relatively near future.

Kind regards
