Enriching the Whole Child Through Holistic Learning

At The Edinburgh Academy Junior School, we are deeply committed to the holistic development of every child. Learning goes far beyond the classroom walls, and our vibrant co-curricular programme plays a central role in building confidence, character, and curiosity.

Each term, we offer a diverse selection of After School Activities. Recent clubs have included Chess, Gardening, Origami, Musical Theatre, Judo, Fencing, Climbing, Golf, Calligraphy, British Sign Language, Visual Art Journalling, Library, Fun Scientists, Bollywood Dance, Coding, Rugby, Hockey, Football and Netball.

With access to extensive outdoor grounds, pupils benefit from outstanding sports and outdoor activities. Our indoor climbing wall, unique among Scottish primary schools, is also a highlight.

In Primary 6, children start to represent the School at Saturday morning matches in Rugby, Hockey and Cricket against other schools. Netball and Football fixtures are scheduled during the school week.

All children from Primary 3 upwards are offered the chance to sing in one of our many choirs including Show Choir and an auditioned Chamber Choir. With over 150 individual Music lessons scheduled each week with Visiting Music Teachers, children also benefit from the opportunity to play in ensembles including Strings Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Clarinet Group, Recorder Group, Flute Group, Cello Group, Suzuki Violin Groups, Guitar Group and Junior Pipe Band.
