Passports and Visas

Passport and Visa Entry Requirements

All families applying to The Edinburgh Academy are asked to provide a copy of their child’s passport and, where applicable, visa. If a passport is not available, a birth certificate can be provided instead. We will keep these documents up to date throughout your child’s time at the school.

Families joining us from overseas may need to apply for a visa for their child to study in the UK. You can check whether a visa is required using the UK Government’s visa checker.

Support with Visa Applications

The Edinburgh Academy is a licensed Student Sponsor and works with specialist immigration advisers, Holmes & Partners Ltd, to support families through the visa process and ensure we meet UK immigration requirements.

If your child requires a Child Student visa, we can provide the necessary Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) once a place has been accepted. Holmes & Partners will guide you through the application process.

Where necessary, we will share relevant information and documents with Holmes & Partners, who will contact you directly.

Families Living in the UK

If your child is living in the UK under a parent’s visa, we will ask for evidence of their immigration status and confirmation that appropriate care and living arrangements are in place.

Parents holding, or considering applying for, a Parent of a Child Student visa should be aware that this route is generally available only while their child is aged 4–11. Different arrangements may be needed when a child turns 12, unless the parent also has a younger child who qualifies under this visa route.
