Dear Parent / Guardian

In yesterday’s whole school assembly I likened the Junior School to a tortilla wrap. Fairly plain and functional – giving of life (bread), but not much more. The children and the staff are the things that turn that plain old tortilla into the happy, living, breathing entity that is the Edinburgh Academy Junior School and Nursery.  Whether a Burrito, a Chimichanga or a Quesadilla (to name only three uses of the wrap) they add flavour and vibrancy. My point was that whilst things are different at the moment we remain as one- a collection which put together adds to an exciting whole!

I offered a particular welcome to those children coming into the school for the first time and would extend this to all of our new families as well. Hopefully I have managed to say hello to you all at the main gate where, in spite of the rain over the last two mornings, it has been a pleasure to see the children bounding into school.

I have not been able to be in Nursery to welcome parents and children there but again many thanks to you all for your understanding of the need for new arrangements.

Thank you also to all of our parents for your understanding in wearing face coverings when in the school grounds and also only one parent or guardian picking up the children. Your help with this is much appreciated.

Over the next week or so I will also write out to parents about how we will try to replicate our usual Welcome Evenings in these strange times.

Kind regards
