One day on the top of the Pentlands – emblematic of the solidity of our foundation and of the extent of our prospect – we two resolved to set about the establishment of a new School.
Henry Cockburn & Leonard Horner, 1822
Almost 200 years later, the Edinburgh Academy has moved with the times, keeping alive the vision and energy of Cockburn, Horner and their fellow Directors. It has not stood still but keeps changing; seeking the best of the new and keeping the best of the old. As we head towards our bicentenary in 2024 we are no less ambitious than our Founders. Generations of pupils have benefited from the excellence that is an Academy education. More than ever, we want to offer learning and extracurricular opportunities to our young people that will meet their future needs in a rapidly changing world.
Through our TO24 campaign we will increase our bursarial support to deserving pupils of limited financial means, enhance our educational offer and the School estate through capital projects.
