An Edinburgh nursery school for girls and boys aged 2 to 5 Edinburgh Academy nursery

Edinburgh nursery schools are not all the same

Part time and full time nursery education

What is a good nursery school?

A child's nursery years represent the first break with the routines of home, the first anxieties for parents. It is important that this crucial phase of life is entrusted to a good nursery school with qualified professional staff. A good nursery school makes a child feel secure. A good nursery school provides a gentle introduction to learning. A good nursery school offers flexible timings to suit the needs of parents. Amongst Edinburgh nurseries, The Edinburgh Academy Nursery stands out as able to offer all of these.

Edinburgh Academy little nursery (2 year olds)

The Edinburgh Academy Little Nursery is the first step out of the family at home into the family of education. It’s a small specialist nursery designed for that problem age of two, where children are too old for a crèche and too young for an ordinary Edinburgh nursery. In and around Edinburgh nurseries of this kind are hard to find. The Edinburgh Academy Little Nursery is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. every weekday. We shall be able to take 2 year olds all day from January 2009 upon the completion of new Edinburgh Academy nursery building at Arboretum.

Edinburgh Academy part-time nursery (3-5 year olds)

The Edinburgh Academy Part-Time Nursery offers morning only places from 8.45 a.m. until 12 noon. This nursery's main task in the early months is to make sure, for you, that your child feels secure. That is why The Edinburgh Academy Part-Time Nursery offers this flexible timing. The Edinburgh Academy Part-Time Nursery lunch club is also available each day, enabling a small group of children to enjoy a packed lunch together and then be cared for until 1.00 p.m. In a city like Edinburgh nurseries need to provide flexibility for busy parents; this is what The Edinburgh Academy Part-Time Nursery does.

Edinburgh Academy full time nursery (3-5 year olds)

A child can attend The Edinburgh Academy Nursery as a full day pupil. Through a careful programme of selected activities and through friendly interaction between children, The Edinburgh Academy Nursery's qualified staff work to develop in each individual child the confidence and the curiosity which are the key elements for later learning. This is the beginning of The Edinburgh Academy's famous "personally tailored teaching."

If you are looking for an Edinburgh nursery, remember that not all Edinburgh nurseries are nursery schools. The Edinburgh Academy offers not just Edinburgh nursery care but an Edinburgh nursery school - making a start on personally tailored teaching!

What makes The Edinburgh Academy Nursery different?

More than just nursery care

Edinburgh nurseriesIn Edinburgh nursery schools are not as common as you may think. Edinburgh nurseries are not all the same. Care nurseries do not include nursery teaching. The Edinburgh Academy Nursery is a nursery school. That means it has fully qualified and expert nursery teaching staff. The reputation of The Edinburgh Academy guarantees your peace of mind. Amongst Edinburgh nurseries, The Edinburgh Academy Nursery stands out as a genuine nursery school.

Out of nursery hours care

Edinburgh nurseries out of hours nursery careEdinburgh nurseries regularly need to cope with the children of two working parents. At the Edinburgh Academy you can, if you choose, have your child looked after from 8am till 6pm every day throughout the year with only a few exceptions. Holiday Club covers all bar a few days of the school holidays. Amongst Edinburgh nurseries The Edinburgh Academy Nursery stands out as one that offers extended hours care.

Qualified nursery staff

nurseries with qualified staffThe Edinburgh Academy Nursery staff are fully qualified and are determined to ensure that your child's first experience of learning is structured and productive. Equally, it must be fun. With that foundation, your child can move through to the primary school years with bright interest and a positive attitude. Without qualified staff, some Edinburgh nurseries are most unlikely to achieve this important goal.

Purpose built nursery block

Edinburgh nurseries with purpose built facilitiesThe Denham Green Building, home of the full time nursery, was opened in 1987. It was designed and built as a nursery and is beautifully situated in its own secluded area of the campus to the north of the main Junior School block. This sort of purpose built facility is rare amongst Edinburgh nurseries. Its scale is appropriate to small children. Its interior fittings are excellent and its external environment is second to none. A larger new building should be ready by Autumn 2008.

A spacious campus in Edinburgh's leafy new town

Edinburgh nurseries with groundsThe Edinburgh Academy full time Nursery is located on the main Edinburgh Academy Junior School campus but in its own secluded area. Few Edinburgh nursery school children are able to enjoy such wonderful play areas, surrounded by trees and grass, which in turn can become an outdoor classroom of enviable proportions. We are also building a completely new nursery and after-school facility on the site. This exciting new development will bring together the two parts of the Nursery.

A nursery preparing children for primary school

Edinburgh nursery preparing children for schoolThrough easing the transition between home life and education The Edinburgh Academy Nursery will prepare children for entry into The Edinburgh Academy Junior School where the 5 to 14 curriculum commences. The Edinburgh Academy Junior School is a small co-educational school with small classes, meaning that personally tailored teaching can be offered to every child. In turn it will prepare children for the Edinburgh Academy Senior School. The Edinburgh nursery best placed to manage the crucial first stage of this transition is The Edinburgh Academy Nursery.
