Edinburgh Academy pupils gain top honours in Chemistry
Edinburgh Academy pupils Daniel Rowbottom and David Webb today learned that they both gained full marks in their GCSE Chemistry exams. Both are among the top ten students in the UK in Chemistry according to Edexcel, the UK’s largest awarding body. With 8722 candidates, two pupils from the same school with top marks is a remarkable achievement, a tribute to the hard work and effort of teachers and pupils alike.
Daniel’s results were impressive in every subject as he gained the top A* grades in every single one of his presentations. David just missed matching him with one A grade amongst his otherwise perfect set of A* grades.
The Academy’s Chemistry Department has produced an outstanding set of results at all levels (Higher, A-level and GCSE) this summer. All but one out of 86 candidates passed and 87% were graded B or better.
New Rector Marco Longmore said, “I am thrilled for both teachers and pupils. Congratulations to all involved. Results like these reinforce the Academy’s commitment to the sciences as seen in the new James Clerk Maxwell Science Centre and will inspire pupils to continued high achievement.”
