U9/11 Scottish Golf Championships

On Friday 24th April 13 junior players travelled to St Andrews to play in the annual U9/11 Scottish Golf Championships. On a calm and overcast day, our boys showed great skill, a fine temperament and an excellent sporting attitude as all competitors battled their way around some demanding holes on the Strathtyrum and Balgove courses. It was fantastic to see the players enjoy the challenge and record some excellent scores and final placings. Well done, everyone! Thank you to all the parents who supported the players at the event.

Well played also to runners-up; Jasmine Banks, Callum Reynolds and Angus Macpherson who hit the ring in the last second of the match. Congratulations to all who played and thank you to all the staff who helped organise and referee the games.

Badminton

P6 Badminton Competitions Dec 2008

P6 completed very exciting singles badminton competitions with many pupils raising their level of performance. After several weeks of coaching in the basic skills, it was fantastic to watch every pupil enjoying playing the game but also playing with real sportsmanship and applying excellent etiquette during the matches.

In P6R, Angus Macpherson won through to the final after an extremely exciting semi-final against Kelvin Chen which ended 12-10. Harry Simpson had a comfortable victory against Kamran Afshar at 10-4 which then set up the final match. Macpherson took an early 7-3 lead with some excellent clears and drop shots. Simpson not to be undone fought back to 7-8 which set up a glorious few exchanges where no quarter was given as both players looked to find the edge. Macpherson finally completed the win at 10-8.

P6C also had a closely fought contest with Innes Murray coming back from 0-7 to win 11-10 against Ben Jourdan in the first round. Oscar Ramsay, meanwhile, had a relatively comfortable route to the final. Murray dominated the early exchanges in the final but Ramsay came back to level the scores on 7-7. A fantastic finish saw Murray edge it 10-7.

Congratulations to Angus and Innes and well done to all who played!

P6R Doubles Badminton Competition

Today 6R had a doubles badminton tournament. All played very well and the final was played by Kelvin Chen and Jessica Smith against Patrick Edwards and Hamish Graham. The end score was 10-7 to Patrick and Hamish. Here is a quote from Patrick and Hamish,” It was a good game. Everyone did their best and had fun. A big thanks to Mr. Enos for coaching and teaching us to play badminton this term."
