Me at school!

Memories of The Junior School

My best memory of the Junior School was when I played against Bronte House at rugby. It was a tense moment when I was in the changing rooms and I was very excited. When we saw the opponents they looked like giants. Then the game started, and it was thrilling.

My best memory of the Junior School was when I was in Primary 4 and we had PE. The subject was football and we were playing a five-a-side tournament. My team had Sandy, Michael and me, and in one match Sandy offered to be goalie and so Michael and I were up front. Amazingly the result was 4-2 to us.

"Spelling is fun -

Teachers help with tricks to help you remember. Smartboards are really useful for things like maths – teachers make it easy to learn."

In rugby I sprained my ankle, Instead of playing on like most times all the players stopped the game and gave me some treatment. What most made it my favourite memory of school is that even the people I didn’t get along with came and helped me go to the doctor..... I made lots of friends when I started school and they’re still my friends now.

At Camp

LoaningdaleMy best memory at the Edinburgh Academy Junior School is Loaningdale camp. The activities there were brilliant! I had one of the best weeks in my school life. My favourite activity was abseiling at Loaningdale. It was brilliant. You climbed up a rope ladder to the top. At the top the instructor clipped a harness onto you. You then jumped off a platform all the way to the bottom. You feel brilliant.

On arrival

arrival of girls 2007Edinburgh Academy is great! I wasn’t sure about going to a school with so many boys but the boys have all been great fun. I’ve tried lots of new sports like touch rugby and hockey. I like all my new teachers and enjoy all of my new subjects. I think that the Science and Art room are fab! I can’t imagine being anywhere else now. Edinburgh Academy is my school.

Cross Country

cross countryMy best memory at the Edinburgh Academy Junior School was coming first in the school cross-country. The run round Inverleith Park was great, and what made it even better was that it was cold and easy to run in. As I came round the allotments and saw the finish line I just gave it my all, and won. It felt great, and that’s why it was my favourite memory of the Edinburgh Academy Junior School.

Making Friends

working togetherI was very nervous but excited about starting at the Edinburgh Academy. Having been at an all girls school I wasn’t sure how the boys would treat me. The boys have all been really friendly and kind. I have made lots of new friends. Although you have to take school lunches, I have enjoyed baked potatoes and cheese and fish and chips on a Friday!

School Trips

Hopetoun HouseYesterday P2 went to Hopetoun House. We had lots of fun. We went in the house and we went in the grounds. I liked inside best because we could dress up. I thought the red deer were exciting because they were good at running. They liked carrots because there were lots. Of them I liked the one with the antlers. It was fun. We learnt about a long time ago, and also animal homes, and I had a great time. And we had a brilliant time. We saw some deer and hoof prints in the ground. And when we were inside we dressed up in costumes. And I was the person who dressed as the very important person. And I got a gold jacket.

Teachers

good teachersWe think the Edinburgh Academy is great because the teachers are fantastic.

We love art because Mr Rees does loads of great sculptures. Mr Zbikowski shows us cool experiments and teaches us loads of wacky Science things. The sports centre is fabulous for having fun; it has lots of good facilities.

We love our school!

Acting

Bugsy MaloneI felt quite nervous at first but then I felt better afterwards. When my mum and dad saw me they said it was brilliant especially Hatshepshut and Tutankhamun. My favourite part was when Hatshepshut’s hat fell off. My costume was itchy and my make-up felt funny.

Most of my class were drones, except for me, Ben and Pietro. Ben was a robber ant, Pietro was Queen Bee. It was fun acting. I can’t wait till tomorrow. Honey is about a little bee called Grumble who’s a worker bee, but he wants too be a drone. He gets teased. The moral of the story is, ‘It’s best to be best at what you’re best at.’ I think my mum will enjoy it a lot.

Co-education

co-educationI think that the school is even better now; it is fun to play with girls and boys. I really like the Science because it is great fun. We have brilliant teachers for Music, Art, P.E, Games and Science as well as our class teachers.

The school lunches are good. My favourite is fish and chips on a Friday.

The Edinburgh Academy is the best school I know.

Rugby

rugbyMy favourite memory of the Edinburgh Academy Junior School is when I dived over the try-line in a rugby match against Heriot’s. There were three people in front of me and they were all big. I dodged one of them and ran into another. The third caught me round the ankles. As I fell I twisted round and made a final dive.

Music

My best moment ever of the Edinburgh Academy Junior School was when I came first in a pipe band drumming competition at Peebles High School.

Unfortunately I could not pick up the medal and shield because I had to go to a party. When my mum said on the phone that I had won I was so happy I could not say a word.

Cricket

cricketMy best memory is getting into the cricket team; it was the best feeling in the world. I was the happiest kid in the world. I ran home after school and started to practise.

And just about everything ...

front yardOutside I like playing dodge ball.....I like playing football with my friends and I like maths and the playground and I like my teachers.....
