Personal Challenge
The Edinburgh Academy attempts to follow the aims of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. In short, we aim to provide an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development for young people, which is of the highest quality and the widest reach.
Many people still see the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme as a walk in the hills for a couple of days and although the expedition is by far the most visible aspect of the Award, it is by no means the be all and end all.
Fifths and Above
At the Academy we open up the Award to the pupils in the fifths (S4), straight after the October half term. We have adopted the program 2000 in full. This means that, with enthusiasm, a pupil under taking the Bronze award at this time will have the opportunity to complete this level of the award by the end of the school year.
