2007-8 World Land Trust
The Edinburgh Academy has selected the World Land Trust as its charity of the Year.
Victoria Pinion, Student Chair of the Charities Committee said “As an ECO school with a long standing interest in environmental issues, we wanted to select a charity that was obviously making a real difference to the environment and wildlife whilst supporting the local community. The WLT does all this and we are delighted to support them”.
The Academy’s target is to raise a minimum of £10,000 by the end of this school year through various fund raising events. So far, an incredible £4000 has been secured following a highly successful Christmas Fair, Band concert, own clothes day and even a sponsored chest waxing. Future events include a fashion show and frugal lunches where traditional lunches are replaced by a sandwich and bowl of soup.
The school hopes that, in the future, students will be able to visit the areas that they have helped support and protect and to see the beneficial impact that the WLT projects have made both to the environment and local communitiesOther pictures
