Maxwell Centre Lecture Theatre

At a cost of £4.3 million The Edinburgh Academy has constructed a new science centre, the James Clerk Maxwell Centre.There is a 172 seat lecture theatre equipped with the latest presentational devices.

The seating can be retracted into the wall to provide a large reception area.

An elegant auditorium

The senior school assembly hall is a beautiful and unusual oval shaped auditorium,  entered through an imposing classical facade (main picture above).

The hall is 50 feet long in the floor well, which is surrounded by a raised walkway. It has a stage area at one end, and is equipped with a splendid pipe organ and a grand piano. 

The hall seats 300 in theatre format.  It has a modern kitchen, and toilets leading off the hall.  There is ample off road parking in the school yards.

Large meeting room

The Salvesen Room is a large bright room on the first floor of the Donaldsons Building in Henderson Row. It has direct access to outside via a turret stair. 

The room is 38 feet by 33 feet and wooden floored.  It will hold 100 theatre style.

Accessible auditorium

Very accessible,  being off the main foyer of the school, the junior assembly hall is  57 feet x 41 feet,  with a wooden floor.  An additional 9 foot walkway strip round three sides is ideal for access. 

There is a large stage at one end and a balcony  at the opposite end. The hall seats 300 in theatre format.  There is ample off road parking in the school yards.

Attractive meeting / music room

The bright and airy Robertson Room is part of the Music School on the Henderson Row campus.    It makes an attractive meeting room.

Out of school hours there are acres of space on all our sites for users' vehicles.

Other meeting rooms

There are various classrooms that can be let for meetings,  either individually or in combinations to suit your requirements. Rooms are available at either the Henderson Row or Arboretum campuses.

Room 1 at Henderson Row is a large classroom with direct access to the main hall and a service hatch to the kitchen.  It can be used in conjunction with hiring the main hall.
