Purpose of this page
We have traditionally arranged our currciulum pages by teaching departments. However whilst to those in the know this may make perfect sense, it occurs to us that it may be by no means obvious to outsiders that Economics should be taught by the Business Studies Department or Politics by the History Department.
For this reason in this new edition of our website we have also created a page that arranges subjects alphabetically. We also provide a very brief introduction to each. To learn more, please follow the links provided.
In some cases these subjects are not written into the blocking scheme until they are demanded by students. Classes will usually be provided where viable numbers exist, but we regret that as a general rule single tutorials cannot be provided. True to our promise however, "viable numbers" in The Academy can be very small numbers.
The Blocking Scheme
In the sixth and seventh years we try so far as possible to design the blocking scheme around the wishes of the students, rather than forcing students into subjects of our choice. However it is never possible to accommodate every possible combunation and some choices will always have to be made. The blocking scheme for the current academic year is on the senior curriculum page.
