7ths: In the 7th year pupils may either take up to three or four A-Levels, or Highers/AS-Levels (from the Sixths), or a mixture. Blocks in each of the two columns are taught simultaneously. The combination of subjects available in the 6ths is limited by the need to timetable five blocks of seven periods into a 38 period week. Thousands of permutations are in fact possible, but even so you may not find your preferred combination is available. Please note also that once all choices are in, we reserve the right to delete any course which is under-subscribed. (1) This is the scheme for 2009-10 only; it will change in 2010-11. (2) For those 6ths who expect to continue to A-Level in the 7ths, it is important to bear in mind the A-Level blocking. You can continue all subjects to A-Level in the 7ths except those asterisked *, but again not all combinations are possible. (3) English is compulsory for all pupils except those taking Further Maths; Further Maths is only available to those also taking Maths AS-Level |

This is the blocking for 2009-10 only, (it will change in 2010-11).
The bracketed number is the number of teaching periods, out of 40 in a week (periods 1-8); period 9 (games and activities) is not included.
6ths: After taking GCSE in the 5th year, pupils in the 6th year take five subjects, either to SQA Higher or to AS-Level (H / AS).
