Deborah Meiklejohn

I was educated in Edinburgh at St George’s School for Girls and Edinburgh University where I did a degree in Biochemistry followed by Secondary Teacher training in Chemistry, Biology and General Science at Moray House.
My first teaching post was at Tynecastle High School where I taught until having my two children.
Following a brief period as a temporary supply teacher for various schools when my children were very young, Ie took up a teaching post at George Watson’s College, Edinburgh where I spent 22 very happy years.
Initially I taught Chemistry and was a Guidance teacher with responsibility for pastoral guidance and discipline. On my promotion to the Senior Management team I took over as Director of Studies in charge of academic management and subject choice.
Latterly I was Deputy Head of George Watson’s College with responsibility for the management and design of the curriculum and timetable before joining the Edinburgh Academy as Senior Deputy Rector in August 2009.
