Edinburgh Academy co-founder Sir Walter Scott

For students from the European Union

In honour of Sir Walter Scott,  the celebrated author and co-founder of The Edinburgh Academy in 1824,  the school celebrated the 175th anniversary of its foundation by announcing the institution of a number of scholarships for students from member states of The European Union.  The one year scholarships are for senior students who wish to study for one year in a foreign country before proceeding to university.

Fees for the year will be payable in Euros,  and the basis of the scholarship will be a fixed exchange rate of:

£1 = €1

At present exchange rates the effective discount of this scholarship exceeds 30%.

What are the benefits?

  • A year of education overseas offers a strong foundation upon which to build a college degree course.
  • A European capital provides the ideal site for a liberal studies educational experience.
  • Cultural perspectives are broadened and international understanding increased.
