From Autumn 2008 The Academy is fully coeducational. This means that all scholarship awards are available equally to boys and girls.
In honour of Sir Walter Scott, the celebrated author and co-founder of The Edinburgh Academy in 1824, the school celebrated the 175th anniversary of its foundation by announcing the institution of a number of scholarships for students from member states of The European Union. The one year scholarships are for senior students who wish to study for one year in a foreign country before proceeding to university.
Fees for the year will be payable in Euros, and the basis of the scholarship will be a fixed exchange rate of:
At present exchange rates the effective discount of this scholarship exceeds 30%.
- A year of education overseas offers a strong foundation upon which to build a college degree course.
- A European capital provides the ideal site for a liberal studies educational experience.
- Cultural perspectives are broadened and international understanding increased.
