Scholarships and Financial Support
Bursaries and Financial Support for FeesOur Means Tested Bursary scheme is the main vehicle for financial support for fees. Bursary Awards can be made up to the value of full school fees subject to proven financial need. The School aims to support those pupils who might otherwise be unable, given their family’s financial circumstances, to benefit from an Academy education. Funds are therefore made available to offer financial support to pupils whose family may not otherwise be in a position to consider the school. Such awards are targeted towards those applications which offer the greatest potential for lifeenhancing opportunities. Awards are financially reviewed on an annual basis. The following process for application will apply:
We emphasise that the aim of this support is to help families who genuinely cannot afford the full cost of an Academy education. To that end funding may be available up to 100% of full fee. However no guarantee of assistance can be made. The Academy must ensure that it operates within prudent financial parameters. Bursary support for fees is awarded on the basis of the awarding of a place at the school and satisfactory completion of the financial means form with provision of supporting documentation. Bursaries are normally prioritised for Senior School Years (Geits to 7ths). Special consideration may be given for support in Junior School depending on the availability of funds. Application for Bursary Support must be made each session by 31st January for entry to the School the following September. We regret that late applications cannot be accepted. |
ScholarshipsScholarships are available to both internal and external candidates. Scholarship awards are presented to the candidate rather than the parent. Although a Scholarship award may be in part financial, there is no reduction in school fees associated with the award. The Scholarship monies awarded each year to support further study at higher education or a Gap year expedition will be held by the school in the name of the pupil and be paid to the pupil at the end of their education at the Academy in 7ths or on their 17th birthday if they have previously left the School. Current pupils in the Senior School at The Edinburgh Academy or external applicants may apply to be considered for a Scholarship award according to the following guidelines.
All applications for Scholarships must reach Mrs Meiklejohn, Senior Deputy Rector by 4pm on Thursday 13 January 2011. |
