Legacy Club

Since we launched our Legacy Campaign in 2007, I am pleased to say that we have received over £300,000 and a significant number of pledges from Academicals and Friends.
It is in these difficult economic times that we realise how important it is for schools to be able to find ways of not interrupting a child’s education when parents are in short term turmoil. This requires large bursary funds, and the purpose of the Foundation is to build those and provide funding for necessary capital projects after the present refurbishments made possible by the sale of the houses are completed.
The Edinburgh Academy Foundation was launched by me during my term as Chairman of the Court to provide an endowment to the School necessary for new building work for the School’s continued success and to provide bursaries for promising pupils from all aspects of society and those pupils whose parents are in need during hard times at an important juncture in their education.
I would urge those making or altering their Wills to think of the School as one of the influences of one’s own career and success and recognise that by leaving a portion of that success by way of Legacy.
Knowing of pledges in advance benefits our planning but also gives the opportunity of a donor helping to meet particular needs. Please feel free to get in touch with the Director of the Foundation. It is worth noting that 25% of all unrestricted donations are made available to the Bursary Fund.

Regular donations- you can make a serious of donation to us by completing a Standing Order in our favour. This is the simplest way to make regular on-going donations to the Foundation. Again if you are a taxpayer you can complete a Gift Aid declaration and we will collect the tax.

Share transfer- the transfer of shares to the Foundation is free from any Capital Gains tax. You simply have to tell us you wish to transfer shares and we can arrange for a Crest Transfer to take place.
