The wish list
The Wish List for 2006 was the first of its kind for the Academy and whilst modestly launched was immediately well received and supported. In 2007 to reflect the ambitious plans for going Co-Ed we broadened the list. Teachers previously concerned not to “appear greedy” got into the plan with enthusiasm and came forward with a selection of jam items with which to top the bread and butter of our children’s education. As a parent, I very much support the idea of being able to choose where to spend that little extra which is always required in life.
The job of the Foundation is to help support the activities of the school, channelling donations from our supporters into areas of need at the Academy. It is always refreshing to see how many of the Accies and Parents “get it” and give every year towards providing these extracurricular items.
As a special thank you, guess what, we start all over again! To quote Arnold Bennett “Any change, even for the better, is accompanied by some drawbacks and discomforts.” I would add to that “cost” and as Development Director of the Foundation I have to be honest in saying we needed your support last year, this year and for the future. Change at the School is ongoing and for the greater good; we really look forward to welcoming more girls and intend to provide the best of facilities.

Endowment Fund
The Foundation’s aim is to raise funds to allow the school to carry out its development plans and to create a substantial endowment fund which will be used to assist deserving and needy pupils attend the school.
By raising funds from across the wider school community we reduce pressure on school fees. This is achieved by allocating 25% of general donations received to a dedicated endowment fund from which bursaries and scholarships can be awarded.
2008 Progress Report
In this third year of asking for very specific gifts we have raised a total of £47,250. It is well known that in fundraising appeals a small percentage of the donors give the greatest percentage of the total and so it comes as no surprise that £30,000 of this total came from three generous people; they may remain nameless but we are deeply grateful for their gifts.
